This course introduces students to practices in information science, focusing on techniques for working with communities, organizations, and institutions in the transformative use of information. A focus of the course will be networked and online communities. Students will engage in participant observation, digital ethnography, and other methods of understanding behavior in communities. The course will also have a law and ethics component, with a focus on internet and technology governance.
